On Saturday, May 12th, the Letter Carriers of Buffalo and WNY will be participating in the 15th Annual Letter Carrier Food Drive. The NALC Annual Food Drive is the largest one day drive in the country. Postal patrons need only leave a non-perishable near their mailboxes, and their Letter Carrier will collect while making their daily deliveries.
Description:
Our branch consists of roughly 2100 members all over WNY. We are active in labor issues at the Post Office as well as being active within the community. Our members become "adopted residents" so to speak, in the neighborhoods that they deliver mail in daily. Along with our Annual Food Drive, the NALC also works with MDA on many fund raising campaigns.
History:
The NALC itself is over 100 years old, and our local was one of the founding branches in the union. This will be the 15th Annual National Food Drive, although our branch participated as a test site for the first drive, so it is actually 16 years for WNY.
