The Catholic Charities Service Corps (CCSC) invites young adults to use their gifts and skills to address poverty for one year, from August 2008 - August 2009. The CCSC offers its members the opportunity to work in agencies that advocate for and work with low-income populations of all ages. Housing, health insurance, transportation, room and board are provided, as well as a small stipend. Many former volunteers feel as Valentine (2005) does, that "the CCSC wasn't just a year of service, it was a life-changing experience. It has challenged me to live, love, and grow."
Volunteers are required to live simply for the year, with other volunteers. Trainings are offered throughout the year, beginning with Orientation in August.
