World Heritage is a public benefit organization dedicated to fostering cultural enrichment and intercultural understanding through youth exchange programs.
Description:
World Heritage offers qualified students 15-18 years of age from Europe, Asia, South America, and Mexico the opportunity to spend a high school year with a host family in the US or Canada. In addition, World Heritage, in cooperation with ASSE, offers a year, a three-month reciprocal program, or summer abroad program worldwide to students from the US and Canada. World Heritage believes that it is through cultural exchange a greater international understanding is achieved among peoples and countries. By offering these programs to young people, World Heritage is promoting closer ties of friendship between the participating countries and all of those who take part are doing their share in contributing to global harmony.
History:
Founded in 1980 as Spanish Heritage, World Heritage originally focused on students from the Hispanic culture, but has since expanded its program to embrace other nationalities. World Heritage has been designated in the US as an Exchange Visitor Program by the United States Department of State, World Heritage Programs are conducted in accordance with the standards established by the US Council on Standards fro International Educational Travel (CSEIT).
