Description:
The YMCA of Reading & Berks has 5 branches throughout the county. each branch has something special to offer the community it serves. Central offers full day child care, including second shift care for children ages 6 weeks through 13 years; Teen programs for youth ages 13 - 18, including a weekday drop in center, dances, programs for youth in government, and community service projects; Housing for families, homeless mothers, men and women recovering from addictions, and homeless veterans; health and wellness programs and a facility with an olympic sized swimming pool, free-weight room, nautilis machines, walking track, raquetball courts, and two gymnasiums.
History:
The YMCA is an International organization with over 250 YMCA's around the world. The YMCA completed the celebration of 150 years in 2001. The YMCA of Reading & Berks County has been in the Reading area since 1858 and has been serving the residents of Berks County since that time.
