The Salvation Army's mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army is committed to helping others by meeting their needs and helping them to find ways to help themselves.
Description:
The Salvation Army is first and foremost a church and through our social service programs we reach out into the community to meet basic needs. In Madison County we have a Homeless Shelter, Thrift Store and our Social Service office helps with utilities, food, clothing and furniture. We are also involved in disaster work and visitation in local Nursing Homes.
History:
The Salvation Army started in London England in 1865 as a Christian Mission, When William Booth saw the problems the people were facing he began looking for ways to make their lives better. That is when our social work began. The Salvation Army has been in Richmond, Kentucky since 1989 helping those in need.
