The Shelter of Hope provides unique temporary emergency housing and service to families who are homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless in the Boyd and Greenup County area. The goal for providing these services is to enable the family to etablish stable housing and to prevent episodes of homelessness. Services are provided without discrimination with regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, familial status, or religion.
Description:
We serve families with and without children as they become homeless. We help them to become more efficient in their life. We have a case manager ready to help at all times. We work with other organizations in helping our clients. We will be working on one big fundraiser for this year and possibly a small fundraiser.
History:
Since 1988, the Shelter of Hope has been providing extended emergency shelter for homeless families and individuals. The guests are allowed to stay no more than 90 days allowing them time to locate permanent housing. Our goal is to provide these families with the tools that would allow them to become self-sufficient. Through case management, we provide Shelter guests with housing applications, rental and job postings, as well as referrals to other community services they need.
