Description:
The Kentucky Occupational Therapy Foundation supports the efforts of occupational therapists and students in developing knowledge and skills, helping patients maximize functional abilities, and contributing to the promotion of a society in which all individuals participate fully in their chosen roles and occupations. The goals of the Kentucky Occupational Therapy Foundation are to secure contributions and manage assets,provide support for continuing education, support public education about the value of occupation in daily life and occupational therapy and provide financial assistance in support of occupational therapy education and research.
History:
The Kentucky Occupational Therapy Association, the professional membership organization for occupational therapists, had a scholarship committee for many years. But as the organization progressed and the desire for creating a Political Action Committee (PAC) on behalf of Kentucky's Occupational Therapists, the scholarship committee would need to become a separate organization. The Kentucky Occupational Therapy Foundation was then begun as a separate organization but carried forth the same mission - fund the future of occupational therapists in Kentucky.
