Our mission is to provide instruction that enables adult Kentuckians to acquire essential skills that promote economic vitality and improve the quality of life.
Description:
Our program serves people in the community who are at least 16 years of age and *Need basic educational skills, or *Are unable to speak, read, or write the English language, or *Do not have a high school or GED diploma Both daytime and evening instruction are provided free of charge in two classrooms in Anderson County. In addition to GED, literacy, and basic skills instruction, we provide ESL (English as a Second Language) classes and a family literacy program.
History:
The Anderson County Adult Education & Literacy program was begun in the mid '80s to serve people in the community who needed to improve their skills in reading, math, and/or English, or desired to earn a GED diploma. In the 1990s family literacy and a program that delivers basic skills instruction in the workplace were added to the program.
