The mission of the Bluegrass Regional Mental Health-Mental Retardation Board, Inc. is to assist individuals and families in the enhancement of their emotional, mental and physical well-being by providing mental health, mental retardation/developmental disabilities and substance abuse services. We recognize our responsibility to serve those who have limited options for meeting their needs. We plan with our communities, develop innovative programs to respond rapidly to needs, and, as appropriate, help influence community priorities to ensure that individual and community service gaps are addressed.

Description:
The Bluegrass Regional Mental Health-Mental Retardation Board, Inc. offers a comprehensive continuum of care. Services include evaluation, treatment, care, rehabilitation, medication, crisis intervention, vocational programs and training, counseling, habilitation skills training, and housing. These services are provided in venues that vary from traditional outpatient clinics located in every one of the region's 17 counties, to hospitals and emergency rooms, jails and correctional facilities, schools, homes, homeless shelters, residential settings, and even the streets of communities in Central Kentucky. Bluegrass has over 2,500 employees, 100 program locations and serves over 30,000 clients a year. In addition to providing community mental health services to the citizens of Central Kentucky, Bluegrass also operates Eastern State Hospital and Bluegrass Oakwood in Somerset, KY.

History:
Bluegrass Mental Health-Mental Retardation has been providing mental health, mental retardation/developmental disabilities and substance abuse services for the citizens of Central Kentucky for over 30 years.
