MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. THE VISION STATEMENT The Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.
Description:
The Blue Grass Council,BSA provides Scouting programs (Cub Scouts,Boy Scouts,Venturing,Exploring and Learning for Life) for youth 6-21 in 50 Central and Eastern Kentucky counties. Venturing, Exploring and Learning for Life are co-ed programs. The Scouting program is delivered through local organizations that serve as charter partners in each program. Annually 20,000 youth are served through the efforts of 4,000 registered adult volunteers. Scouting programs teach values, leadership, healthy living, community services using the outdoors as the learning lab.
History:
Boy Scouts of America began in 1910. Scouting has been provided since 1915 through the Blue Grass Council, BSA. The council today is the result of mergers with a number of smaller councils.
