LexLinc exists to empower Lexington’s underserved neighborhoods and families. We are a neutral convener actively connecting people and organizations while mobilizing leadership across all community levels.
Description:
LexLinc is a way to support community-wide initiatives through a system rather than program by program through a local governance structure. Rather than run programs, LexLinc develops public-private partnerships to address issues that one organization alone could not tackle.
History:
LexLinc developed from a community-wide group, Lexington Makes It Work, to address issues of welfare reform. In 1996, welfare reform legislation passed and Lexington Makes It Work begin their community response addressing the issues of welfare reform. In April 1998, an executive director of LexLinc was hired and began working to develop a plan for welfare reform in Fayette County.
