Amachi Central Kentucky assists children of incarcerated parents in achieving their highest potential by engaging them in consistent and committed mentoring relationships.
Description:
Amachi Central Kentucky seeks to serve children of promise in Fayette County who have a parent, or both, in prison by matching them with a person who will make a year-long commitment to being their mentor. We provide training to new mentors and ongoing support for mentors.
History:
Amachi Central Kentucky is an initiative of Lexington Leadership Foundation. LLF is a non-profit organization that seeks to build relationships between the communities of need and the communities of resource. Programs are undertaken which focus particularly on the broken, the vulnerable, and the poor. The Amachi model started in Philadelphia several years ago and has been the model for hundreds of programs throughout the country.
