The Faith Community Housing Foundation is a diverse collection of faith-based institutions committed to working together to provide safe and affordable rental housing for low income people of Lexington, Kentucky. To this end, we build new and renovate older homes. Monday thru Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m
Description:
We are a non-profit organization founded by several local churches that saw the need to help provide affordable rental housing to low-income working people in Lexington. FCHF believes that housing alone cannot provide an adequate framework for addressing the needs of low-income families in Lexington. We plan to offer both housing and a support program which includes direct one on one connection between renters and FCHF volunteers.
History:
Faith Community was the idea of Lexington businessman Bill Embry, who served as Chair of the Board since its inception in 2000. There are 12 churches from our community that have joined together to provide safe and affordable rental housing. They convened in response to a Lexington Herald-Leader expose on slumlords to help Lexingtonians avail better, safer and more affordable rental housing. FCH is committed to improving the quality of life for low income families by enhancing housing opportunities.
