Ashland Terrace staff and Board of Directors are dedicated to providing a secure, friendly, affordable home to women 65 years and older. Ashland Terrace strives to nurture residents spiritually, physically and mentally to enhance their retirement years and assist them within the boundaries prescribed by law, to function independently.
Description:
Ashland Terrace is a non-profit, women's, independent living home in Chevy Chase. We serve women 65 years and older; many who live on a very fixed income. Three meals are provided daily, as well as weekly transportation, house-keeping, linen service, errand service, medication reminder service and daily activities. We have Lexington's only public "u-pick flower garden" where the public can visit our garden and cut flowers for only a few cents a stem. We grow many vegetables for the ladies to have for late Spring and Summer meals.
History:
The history began in 1849 during the cholera epidemic housing families. By 1923, only elderly women remained and the facility was incorporated as "The Old Ladies Home." In 1960, the present building was dedicated and eventually changed the name to Ashland Terrace. In 1999 and 2000, we expanded and renovated the home; adding 13 additional rooms.
