The Kentucky Historical Society engages people in the exploration of the commonwealth's diverse heritage. Through comprehensive and innovative services, interpretive programs, and stewardship, we provide connections to the past, perspective on the present, and inspiration for the future.

Description:
The Kentucky Historical Society maintains three museums, the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History, the Kentucky Military History Museum, and the Old Capitol. The KHS is steward to thousands of artifacts, and special collections. Another goal of the Kentucky Historical Society is education. There are both on-site and off-site educational programs. Programs for both children and adults are available. The Kentucky Historical Society also operates a library, and publishes the journal The Register, about Kentucky History.

History:
The Kentucky Historical Society was founded in 1836 to collect and preserve the artifacts, papers and other documentation of Kentucky's history. Now in the 21st century, our mission statement has grown broader to reflect our place in the global community.

Directions:

From 1-64,coming from the East, take the Versailles exit and take a right. Take a right at signs for Downtown Frankfort (Main St.). Take a left on Broadway. The History Center is located on the right. Parking is available in the parking lot across the street.
