Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate and National Historic Landmark welcomes new volunteers throughout the year. Ashland's beautiful, wooded 17-acre site is conveniently located in Lexington on Richmond and Sycamore Roads. Becoming a volunteer at Ashland means entering a world rich in history. You may train to be a docent, providing guided tours of the mansion for our regular daily visitors who come from all over the world. Or you may train specifically to give school tours to visiting students of all ages. You may choose to be a Museum Store volunteer, greeting visitors, working the register, and providing visitor information. We also have events throughout the year that provide additional volunteer opportunities. There are many kinds of projects and jobs for which we need help. Volunteer scheduling is very flexible and will be customized to fit your schedule. Ashland is open Tuesdays-Saturdays 10-5 and Sundays 1-5, with some evening events. Monthly volunteer meetings on Monday afternoons feature guest speakers, focus on historical topics, or visits to other historic sites. Ashland's volunteers come from all walks of life and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge which truly makes Ashland an exceptional place.
Training for all volunteers is provided and available year-round. Volunteers must be 18 years old (exceptions may be made for high school students in their Junior and Senior years). All volunteers are asked to provide three references. Background checks are conducted. This opportunity is sponsored by: The Henry Clay Memorial Foundation
