Every year over half a million of our nation’s children reside in foster care or out of home placements. Most have been abused and/or neglected in the very place they should be the most safe, their own homes. The child victim of abuse or neglect is removed from their home and parents, placed with relatives or strangers, and must wait for judges, attorneys and social workers to decide their futures. The mission of CASA of Madison Counties, Inc. is to provide trained and supervised volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused & neglected children. Assigned by the Judge, the volunteer works on behalf of the child, speaking up for what they feel is in the child’s best interest. The volunteer works collaboratively with the attorneys and social workers in an attempt to achieve the best and quickest result for the child. Our goal is a safe , permanent and loving home for each child.
CASA volunteers are ordinary citizens who are committed to doing what is best for a child. All of our volunteers must complete a structured 30 hour training class. They must also pass a criminal background check, be 21 years of age and commit to a year of service. They are trained by us (at no cost) in courtroom procedure, the social services system, juvenile justice system and the special needs of abused and neglected children. We strive to provide volunteers who come from all cultures, ethnic, educational and financial backgrounds . This opportunity is sponsored by: CASA Of Madison County, Inc.
