Last updated on August 18, 2008
Logo

The Carnegie Center's mission is lifelong learning for all. Through workshops, a tutoring program, writing mentor services and a reading room, the center provides educational opportunities for learners of all levels. We strive to make programs accessible to all and depend on contributions to provide scholarships and reading materials throughout the year. (Scholarships are given based on financial need and books are available to all.)

Volunteers are needed to tutor students in grades K-12 in various school subjects. Tutors meet with their assigned student once a week for one hour. Training is available. Community members with the ability to teach workshops in computers, languages, writing, reading and special interest topics are needed to offer their time and talents. Also, volunteers are often needed to staff special events such as our Family Fun and Learning Nights.

Donations and Contributions - Items Needed: New and used books for children, young adult and adult books (no textbooks or Readers Digest condensed), newspaper or magazine subscriptions, monetary contributions for class scholarships.

Background Check and short intake meeting required for tutors, but not other volunteers.
