The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford is: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
Description:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford is a youth development organization thats serves over 7,000 children in the Greater Hartford area. We run programs out of four facilities: Asylum Hill Club, Northwest Club, Southwest Club and Trinity College Club, and four schools: Milner Elementary School, Dwight Elementary School, Fox Middle School and Parkville Community School. We offer members, ages 6-18, a wide range of programs in five core program areas:1) character and leadership development, 2) education and career development, 3) health and life skills, 4) the arts, and 5) sports, fitness and recreation.
History:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford is proud of its long and illustrious history of offering youth development programs/services to the children/ families who live in some of Hartford's most distressed communities. For over 140 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford has been in the forefront of youth development, working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social, and family circumstances. We have been there for children/families at-risk and have provided year-round, after-school and non-school hours programs, services and support. Our support addresses critical needs and problems, and has enhanced the positive growth and development of our children. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford has made it possible for thousands of Hartford's children to develop into positive, productive and caring adults.
