MACC is dedicated to enhancing life in the greater Manchester community by offering access to services that provide for basic needs including food, shelter and clothing through the collaborative work of member churches and other organizations.

Description:
MACC operates an adult homeless shelter, a soup kitchen open to the community for a noon-day meal and an emergency self-selct food pantry. We also service the community through our Client Advocacy Department helping out with rent, utilities, medical bills etc.

MACC also operates the Church Mouse Thrift Shoppe and runs numerous seasonal programs including the Giving Tree at the Shoppes at Buckland Hills Mall, food baskets at the holidays, gifts to patients in local nursing homes, and a Walk.

History:
We are a 35 year old agency founded by 14 local churches to serve the homeless. Over the years, MACC has become the Town of Manchester's primary social service agency serving the community with various programs described in our agency description.

"Best volunteer job I've ever had"

I volunteer in the food pantry. Not only do I enjoy the staff and other volunteers, but I feel that I am making a difference for people who have to use the pantry to get food. They rely on my friendliness and my help.

Wonderful!

I have been a volunteer at the Manchester shelter for the last 6 years and it is the most wonderful experience that I have ever had. I have met a lot of different people, from many different backrounds. I think listening to the people talk is probably the most important part of the day. A lot of the people don't have anyone to turn to and just need an ear once in a while. I recommend volunteering to everyone. It's good for the heart and sole.
