The Arthritis Foundation's mission is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
Description:
The Arthritis Foundation Northern and Southern New England Chapter serves five New England states-Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The Foundation provides services to over 1.5 million residents who have arthritis, chronic joint pain or one of the 126 related diseases. We support $1.9 million in arthritis research grants in our chapter area. We offer services, including educational, exercise, self-help and advocacy programs We host a variety of special events to raise funds to support our services, including arthritis walks, golf, wine tastings and black tie events.
History:
The Arthritis Foundation, Northern and Southern New England Chapter is one of 50 chapters throughout America affiliated with the national Arthritis Foundation, formed some 58 years ago. We are a 501(c)(3) organization. We are committed to research and annually designate $20 million for new and continuing research projects throughout the country. Advocacy is a high priority and we regularly participate in the Washington DC health forums and political advisory panels.
