The mission of the Urban League of Greater Hartford is to enable African Americans and other residents of the Hartford region to secure economic self-reliance, parity and power and civil rights.

The Urban League of Greater Hartford, Inc., founded in 1964, remains the only professionally started not-for-profit, community based agency targeted to the Greater Hartford African American Community. It is one of the largest direct social services agencies in New England. The Urban League of Greater Hartford, Inc. is dedicated to providing African-Americans and the disadvantaged with opportunities to gain and use skills and knowledge to enable them to become self-sufficient, self-reliant, and self-respecting citizens, helping them to contribute to their own economic progress and to the future of the Greater Hartford community.
The Urban League of Greater Hartford is one of 114 affiliates of the National Urban League and continues to be a strong and successful affiliate. Service delivery programs are departmentalized in a traditional Urban League structure under the headings of Education, Employment and Training, Health and Human Services, Housing, and Economic Development.

The Urban League of Greater Hartford, Inc. is now in its 40th year of service. It remains the only professionally started not-for-profit, community based agency targeted to the Greater Hartford African American Community. We were founded in Hartford in 1964.

From 84 West take Exit 48 Asylum St. Bear right to the stop sign. At the second light take a left onto Collins Street. Take Collins Street to the end. Take a right onto Woodland Street. We are located next to St. Francis Hospital at 140 Woodland Street.
From 84 East take Exit 46 Sisson Ave. It is a left exit. Take a right at the light onto Sisson Ave. At the second light, turn right onto Farmington Ave. At the second light turn left onto Woodland Street. Follow Woodland Street to St. Francis Hospital. We are next to St. Francis at 140 Woodland Street.
