Lawyers Without Borders is a non-profit (501c3) organization that channels legal pro bono services and resources into projects around the world. We develop projects that build capacity, contribute training, provide materials, assess, evaluate, counsel, teach and assist those who are trying to rebuild legal systems in countries emerging from conflict, in development or transitioning to democracy.
Description:
LWOB acts as a global ambassador for rule of law programs worldwide. Technology enables LWOB to access those in need in difficult to reach regions. We are constantly working to direct resources and legally oriented skills to service citizens, lawyers, judges, courts, law schools and victims in those areas. LWOB is a global organization, connecting regions of the world to highly skilled lawyers (working pro bono) with an interest in economic development and public welfare.
History:
LWOB was founded in Hartford Connecticut in January 2000 by longtime Hartford Attorney Christina M. Storm. It is a 501 c3 corporation registered and incorporated in Connecticut with volunteers in many different professions from Hartford and around the world. LWOB is actively engaged at the United Nations. LWOB encourages lawyers and para-professionals from a broad spectrum of professions in the greater Hartford area to help us achieve our goals.
