The mission of Hartford Stage is to create high quality, professional, innovative theatre of consistent artistic and cultural significance for its regional audience and for theatre in America. We are deeply committed to our role in the local, regional and national communities and cherish the opportunity to better people's lives through the magic, beauty, and joy of live theatre.
History:
Hartford Stage is a Tony Award-winning, non-profit, professional theatre founded in 1963. We produce 6 productions in our main stage season as well as summer productions, readings and workshops. Our productions range from classics such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Tartuffe, to provocative new works such as Necessary Targets, I Ain't Your Uncle and Spunk. Our stage has been home to many highly acclaimed performers: Jean Stapleton, Elizabeth Ashley, Jesse L. Martin, Bradley Whitford, Ellen Burstyn, Angela Bassett, Ed O'Neill and Calista Flockhart.
