Access CAA's mission is to create the conditions that empower individuals and families in the communities we serve to overcome the barriers that impair their ability to be economically stable.
Access's vision is that Windham and Tolland counties becoming a region whose residents and communities have and efficiently use the resources necessary to ensure that all of its families and individuals thrive.

Description:
Access is a state and federally mandated Community Action agency serving low-income populations. Access's ability to enhance relationships with funders, the number of collaborative relationships established with other organizations and the strength of our agency's Board of Directors has provided the ingredients for a long-lasting community service agency. Through our Housing Services and Housing Development Unit, thousands of area residents receive energy audits, energy assistance and lead abatement assistance. Our Community Services Unit continuously expands and updates its services to make an even greater difference in the lives of individuals. These vital community programs and services include food and nutrition programs, employment and job training, financial workshops, IDA and volunteer income tax programs (VITA), general and emergency assistance, family support, an emergency shelter, a supervised home for adolescent girls, a Therapeutic Mentoring Program for foster care system teenagers, and social services for youth, families and seniors.

History:
Access Community Action agency proudly celebrates
43 years of service. We measure our success by the number of customers who have become more self-sufficient. Our collaboration with the Department of Social Services (DSS) and 2-1-1 infoline has resulted in the Human Services Infrastructure (HSI), which will provide an even more effective and cost-efficient social service delivery system for our clients.
