A Hand Up Inc.'s mission is to distribute donated goods to help people transition from homelessness to independent living.

Description:
A Hand Up, Inc. collects and delivers donated furniture and household goods to people moving out of homelessness into independent living. We work with social agencies in the Greater Hartford area and receive client referrals through those agencies.

We are entirely volunteer based. Volunteers can either "adopt a family's list" or just collect needed items from our list of frequently requested items. The volunteers help in the pick up and delivery of the needed furniture and household items to the families.

History:
Our organization was incorporated in January 2005 and received 501(c)(3) designation in September. Many in our organization have been providing this service to people over the years. We are excited to be able to provide this service in an organized fashion to clients who have a social services support system behind them. We hope that together we will help people to be successful in their transition from homelessness to independent living.
