Position title: Board of Directors volunteer
Description: The Farmington Valley VNA is interested in speaking with community residents who
would like to serve on its volunteer governing Board of Directors. The Agency's Board
of Directors has between eleven and fourteen members, and terms are for two years,
with a maximum of three terms. The role of the Board of Directors is to set overall
Agency policy and strategic direction, active involvement in fund raising and development,
representation of the VNA in the community, and evaluation/hiring of the Executive
Director. A variety of skill sets are ideal including an understanding of and commitment
to the local community, business management experience, fund raising and marketing
experience, financial/investment expertise and other skills and knowledge which would
assist the Agency in meeting its mission.
All Board members receive an orientation to the Agency, the role/expectations of
the Board and to home health care. The Agency requires that Board members attend
bimonthly meetings which are usually held in the early evening on a weekday. Regular
attendance and active participation are essential. Other committee work may be necessary
depending on the current needs of the Agency. All Board members are expected to give
a financial contribution to the Agency on an annual basis.
