 Job Specifications and Requirements: Camp counselors. Candidates should be responsible, caring, cooperative, enthusiastic, and have a genuine concern for children. Counselors supervise, lead, and coach assigned children. At least 75% of the counselors must be able to speak and understand Mandarin in order to act as interpreters for the children and the teachers. These positions require initiative, leadership, maturity, creativity, a sense of humor and strong commitment to children. Counselors must be able to work well with peers and be a role model to young children. Due to camp training and transition issues, counselors are expected to commit to at least half of the week. Those who commit more days to the camp will get the priority to be accepted.
This is a volunteer position with opportunities to develop leadership and interpersonal skills. At the completion of the camp, a letter of recognition will be sent to the Principal of the counselor’s school as long as the counselor fulfills the job requirements with quality and leadership demonstrated. Counselors must received their 2007-2008 school year grade of B or higher to be qualified. Candidates must be age 14 by July 31, 2008. Candidates who have previously attended CCC Youth Summer Camp as a child for at least a year will be given priority upon successful interview. All applications received will be processed and a decision will be reached by June 30, 2008.
