Volunteers are needed to help Foodshare inspect and repack fresh produce. Shifts are available from 8-12 or 12-3 or 8-3 on Tuesdays and Saturdays. For Fridays, the shift is 8-12. Last year volunteers saved over 4.3 million pounds of fresh, safe produce, for distribution to Greater Hartford's low income families! Our major limitation in growing this program is having volunteers to sort and repackage all the fresh produce when it becomes available. So if you have a few hours and want to do some hands on work to brighten a neighbor's meal, give us a call - you might be available the day we most need your help! This is a great opportunity for individuals or for group projects (groups of 5 - 15). This can be a one-time on ongoing project, with volunteers asked to commit to a two hour initial shift.
