Description:
Volunteer Services at Wishard Health Services is dedicated to enhancing patient care, augmenting the services of staff and promoting community involvement by providing compassionate and competent volunteers and valuable programs.
History:
Wishard's Historic Achievements in the state of Indiana:
First hospital, first ambulance service, first school of nursing, site of first hip replacement, site of first accredited training program in skin diseases, first heart clinic and cardiac institute (Krannert Institute), first Community Mental Health Center, first verified burn center and is currently the only level one burn center for adults in the area, first to be selected one of the 100 best hospitals in the U.S. for three consecutive years, first clinical research pharmacology laboratory (Lilly Research Unit), first Institute for Health Care and Research (Regenstrief Institute), first Palliative Care Program dedicated to serving the indigent and first and only Center of Excellence in women's Health in Indiana.
