We want our senior citizens to lead meaningful, healthy lives. Our mission is to make it possible for the elderly of Boone County to live out their lives with accomplishment and dignity within the environment of their own choice for as long as possible. Description: Through a variety of services, our staff and volunteer provide for the emotional, social, physical and educational well-being of Boone County residents over the age of 60. Our programs include the following: Best Friends (an intergenerational program), Friendly Visitor, Guardianship, Health Screening Clinics, Home Health Aide, Homemaker, Information & Assistance, Medical/Medicare Insurance Assistance, Legal Assistance, Outreach/Access, Information & Assistance, Referral Service for Attendant Care and Housing, Prescription Counseling, and Transportation. History: BCSSI was incorporated in 1978 with Margaret A. Corson serving as founder and executive director. She headed the agency until the time of her death in 2000. The agency grew from one program, transportation, serving 123 people to the current services provided to over 4,000 people.
