Perry Senior Citizens Services provides services to the senior citizens of Perry Township and surrounding neighborhoods. The efforts of our volunteers and our staff help seniors maintain or enhance their quality of life.
Description:
Perry Senior Citizens Services is one of the most positive places to be. In 2007 we delivered almost 10,000 hot meals - and took 709 doctor trips! We know that we help people every day. Our volunteers deliver a hot meal route (1 hr commitment) to 10-15 people in their homes, or transport someone to the doctor's office then back home (your own car, flexible scheduling). We are able to help so many people because of our partnerships with the CICOA, the University of Indianapolis, St. Francis-Senior Promise, RSVP program, local churches and the Marion County TRIAD.
History:
Perry Senior Citizens Services was founded in 1978 by a south side woman who noticed that seniors needed help remaining independent. Over the years, we have been a critical resource for seniors in our community. We have delivered meals and taken doctor trips for almost 30 years! We have continued to reach out into the community and help answer calls for help. We try to be an information clearinghouse so we are able to help anyone who calls. We communicate with the local churches and surrounding senior centers so that we are aware of others' services and activities. We are located in the Southport Community Building in Southport, Indiana (the south side of Indianapolis).
