The mission of the Woodbridge Township Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) is to train dedicated volunteers in disaster preparedness.

Our vision is to be THE "go to" volunteer organization in the township when the Emergency Services are busy or overwhelmed. With our training, we can assist police, fire, and EMS with responsibilities that are necessary but would be a drain on that organizations personnel.

With our constant training we will help Woodbridge Township become a better and safer community in all events.

Description:
In the event of a natural and/or a man-made disaster, county, state, and Federal Government help may not be available for up to 72 hours. C.E.R.T. trains dedicated volunteers how to take care of themselves, their families, the the families of their fellow citizens until organized rescue teams become available. Basic training consists of twenty (20) hours of classroom lectures and "hands-on" workshops. However, training will always continue for those who wish to improve their knowledge in areas of emergency first aid, fire-fighting, etc.

History:
Woodbridge C.E.R.T. was established in September 2005. The original thirteen (13) members have grown to more then twenty (20) members with new training classes being taught on the average of every six (6) months. We have been used to assist neighboring townships look for lost people; assist local police, fire, and EMS at various township events. Our membership is made-up of members with various backgrounds: teachers, retired people, former military personnel, college students, etc.
