NORWESCAP - RSVP Volunteer Resource Center provides opportunities for individuals 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer services in Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren Counties.
Description:
RSVP is a part of SeniorCorps administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service. RSVP is America's largest volunteer network for people 55 and over. RSVP has nearly 500,000 volunteers across the country who are tackling tough issues in their communities.
History:
The Northwest New Jersey Community Action Program (NORWESCAP) touches the lives of 30,000 individuals each year in the counties of Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Hunterdon, Sussex, and Warren. NORWESCAP has been incorporated since 1965 focusing on the mission on "Fighting Poverty. Creating Opportunities. Changing Lives." NORWESCAP became the sponsor for the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program in both Sussex and Warren Counties in 1974, Morris County in 2003, Hunterdon County in 2007, and Passaic County in 2008.
