The Upper Raritan Watershed Association's mission is to ensure the protection of the natural resources of the Upper Raritan Watershed through education, advocacy, land preservation and stewardship
Description:
The Upper Raritan Watershed Association is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit, membership-supported conservation organization working to protect the natural resources of the Upper Raritan Watershed. URWA helps residents of the region learn about land and water issues and take action to ensure a healthy environment for people and wildlife. URWA also works with both public and private landowners, as well as with other conservation groups, to identify and protect parcels that should be preserved as conservation lands and open space.
History:
In 1959, a group of forward-thinking conservationists formed the Upper Raritan Watershed Association (URWA), a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization to protect and preserve the natural resources of the Upper Raritan watershed region. The Association has worked to increase environmental awareness and has seen that changes in the countryside and municipalities are guided by sound and reasonable environmental principles.
