SCORE is a national non-profit association, composed of both retired and active executives and business owners, dedicated to provide free business assistance to anyone who is operating a small business or thinking of starting one. We serve local businesses and provide counseling in a town near you.
Description:
We are looking for volunteers to assist us in accomplishing our mission. We are looking for men and women with experience in business start-ups, financing, planning, marketing, retailing and merchandising, engineering, or other aspects of small business management.
Successful applicants, after a short training period, will become members of a special group of people willing to pass on their secrets to success to others. Guidance and support, based on their years of experience in the business world, can play an important role in helping small businesses acheive success.
Members also serve on one of their chapter's committees and assist in conducting business seminars in local schools and colleges.
History:
SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
SCORE has 389 chapters in locations throughout the United States and its territories, with 10,500 volunteers nationwide. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate time and expertise as business counselors. SCORE was founded in 1964.
