To provide free federal & state income tax counseling, tax form preparation, & e-filing to all middle and low income taxpayers, with special attention provided to those age 60 and older.
Description:
Volunteers are needed to assist with electronic prep & filing of tax returns for the current tax season ending April 15th. You don’t need to be an AARP member or be a retiree to volunteer (or to receive assistance from AARP Tax-Aide volunteers).
We provide standard 3 level IRS/VRPP training and testing. Certification is required each year.
History:
Since its founding in 1968,the AARP Tax-Aide program has grown to become the nation's largest volunteer program. Each year, more than 32,000 volunteers help prepare approximately two million federal, state, and local personal returns. They are supervised by approximately 4,000 volunteer coordinators. The volunteers operate in more than 7,000 tax preparation sites. The program has been honored with the US President's Citation Award for Private Sector Initiatives. The Tax-Aide program is funded and managed nationally through the AARP Foundation.
