The purpose of Hana Mission is to instill hope in the lives of homeless individuals, substance abusers, ex-felons and children from inner city areas by providing housing, case management, counseling, job training and children's programs in the content of scholastic and Christian beliefs.
Description:
We are a non-profit organization that relies solely on the generous gifts from Foundations, individuals and private donations. Our Soup Kitchen provides breakfast for 60-80 people a day. A halfway house for 15 men in Recovery. Along with a children's after school program Monday-Friday, and a Saturday and summer vacations program between 10am to 3pm for 20-30 children.
History:
1998 Hana Mission started serving breakfast from one of the public parks in Paterson NJ 1999 For twice a week Hana Mission rented a space from YWCA to have the worship service 2000 Bought a used school bus and used it as a soup kitchen during the Winter time 2002 Rented a warehouse space and started the woodcraft workshop 2003 Bought a rundown building @ $275,000 2004 City of Paterson approved its usage as a soup kitchen and drug and alcohol rehab. 2006 Started Hana Brothers Construction Company with 15 brothers, and began our three-fold ministry with children: an after school program, Saturday ministry, and 8 week summer program.
