Internal Transport Volunteers

PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ is currently seeking Internal Transport Volunteers. Our volunteers play a crucial role in transporting our patients (within our facility)to therapies in a timely fashion. Each transport volunteer pushes children in their wheelchairs or walks them to their assigned therapies in a timely and safe manner every 1/2 hour so that the children receive their full therapy session. These volunteer positions are needed Monday through Friday, 8:15 am-11:45am or 12:15pm-3:45pm.

Volunteers must complete a screening, application and orientation process.
Volunteers must be at least 16 yrs. of age or older to perform this service.
Volunteers must be able to commit to one full 3 1/2 hour shift, either in the morning or afternoon, one day per week.
Skills required:
Volunteers must have adequate physical stamina/ability to bend, push wheelchairs and briskly walk distances.
Volunteers must be dependable and reliable with attendance and have good customer service and interaction skills.

From 150 New Providence Road: Travel Northwest on New Providence Rd. / CR-645 toward Fernwood Rd. for 0.2 miles. Turn left onto US-22 / Springfield Rd. Continue to follow US-22 W. for 13.7 miles. Merge onto I-287 S toward I-95 / Perth Amboy / New Jersey Turnpike for 4.2 miles. Take the Easton Ave / CR-527 exit- Exit 10- toward S. Bound Brook / New Brunswick for 0.2 miles. Make a slight right onto Easton Ave. / CR-527 S. Continue to follow CR-527 S. for 4.7 miles. Turn right onto Somerset St. and travel 0.3 miles. Children’s Specialized Hospital is on left side at the corner of Somerset and Plum Streets. To access the parking garage from Somerset St., continue on Somerset St. past Plum St. and turn left onto Prospect St. At the end of Prospect St., turn left onto French St. and make a quick left onto Plum St. The entrance to the parking garage is on the left.
