Volunteer Shopper Escort
| Last updated on April 25, 2008 |
People with vision loss find it difficult, if not impossible to locate and identify items for purchase. With the assistance of a volunteer shopper, a person who is legally blind or vision impaired, can still shop independently and know they will be purchasing what they wanted. We have a minimum age requirement of 18 years of age. Training and supervision are provided. This training will give volunteers an overview of what it is like to live with vision loss as well as how to properly guide someone who is blind. Volunteers are required to have a valid MA Driver's license and have their own vehicle. This opportunity is sponsored by: MAB Community Services formerly the Massachusetts Association for the Blind

Overall Experience
It has been very fulfilling and exciting.
 |
I have a grand time visiting and elderly client who just wants company now and then. I have learned so much about some of the real-life history of New England from her and her experiences. She was very excited when I got married and we talked for hours about that. It has just been a great experience to know that just by visiting once a month can make a huge difference in somebodies life. posted by skokaram on April 20, 2006 |
