The NEADS puppy program is looking for volunteers to become weekend puppy raisers for our prison pups. NEADS has prison programs in Framingham, Northampton, Concord, Gardner, Plymouth,Norfolk,North Dartmouth, and Roslindale, Massachusetts, in Niantic, Connecticut and in Cranston, Rhode Island. Weekend puppy raisers commit their weekends to socializing one of our puppies for the year that s/he is being raised in one of our prison programs. They attend monthly puppy raiser meetings at our training facility in Princeton, MA and submit 'furlough' reports for their puppies.
Volunteers must be able to commit to a puppy's entire stay in the prison (one year). There is training provided by NEADS and by the correctional institutions. Previous dog experience is helpful but not necessary. A love of puppies is though!
