To assist families in becoming healthy, stable and self-sufficient, and to offer them information, guidance and support.
Description:
Kent Family Center located in historic Chestertown, Maryland is operated by the non profit agency Shared Opportunity Service, Inc.(SOS). The family center provides programs and services for families from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
Every month Kent Family Center serves approximately eighty-five families with young children living in Kent and Northern Queen Anne's Counties.
History:
In 2006 the agency celebrated ten years of serving families and responding to the community's needs. Primarily funded by Friends of the Family, a unique nonprofit that works to support families with young children, it is one of twenty eight support centers in Maryland. Additional program support is generously donated by community individuals, or received through grants.
