Somali Elders strive to achieve their vision, which includes:
• Advocacy on behalf of Somali people to protect their fundamental needs and ensure that their rights are honored.
• Referrals to the appropriate agencies and organizations that provide needed services.
• Mediation to help resolve conflicts and misunderstandings between the Somali people and the larger community
• Leadership support and development for those interested in accepting responsibility for the well-being of the Somali community, with a strong focus on the needs and healthy development of youth
• Community organizing to help people work together on important issues that they care about.
• Education about the new American culture they are entering and support in staying grounded and connected to their Somali homeland culture
