Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota's mission is to assist people with barriers to education, employment, and independence in achieving their goals. Our goal is to prepare disadvantaged people for work. Not only do we give participants paid work experience, but we also offer classes in English, Computers, and GED preparation.
Description:
Helping people with disabilities or disadvantages develop the skills they need to find and hold a job is central to our mission. We provide education, job training, job placement and long-term support for people. We provide skills training programs in retail, construction, automotive, bank and financial services. Our unique Equipment Loan program offer free medical equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, transfer benches, etc.) to anyone in the community with a temporary need. Our retail store offers a wide array of items for purchase including clothes, books, toys, household items and more! You'll even find new merchandise from Target in our stores. Everyone is welcome to shop our stores. Your purchase supports our employment training programs.
History:
Since 1919, Goodwill/Easter Seals has provided innovative services that enhance the independence of individuals with disadvantages and/or disabilities. Founded by Reverend Herbert Burgstahler and a group of St. Paul community and business leaders, Goodwill began operating in the Church of the Good Shepherd in St. Paul. In 1989, Goodwill/Easter Seals opened our St. Cloud location offering both employment programs and a retail store to financially support those programs. Today, we continue helping empower families and individuals economically as they strive for self-sufficiency.
