Reading prescription labels, helping a child with their homework or filling out a job applications. These are some of the goals of immigrants, refugees and native-born Minnesotans learning how to read and write. Join this important work: tutor an adult in basic reading, writing or math skills. Tutors are also needed to help adult learners prepare for their GED. One-to-one, small group or classroom assistant opportunities are available.

No previous tutoring or teaching experience is necessary. Training is provided. The time commitment for this opportunity is 2-3 hours per week for a six month minimum. Morning, afternoon and evening opportunities are available. Age requirement: 18 or 16 with parent or guardian.

 From Minneapolis and Suburbs: • Take 94 East • Take the Cretin/Vandalia Exit • At the top of the exit, take a left. • Go to University Avenue, take a right. • Immediately get in the lefthand lane and take a left on Transfer Road. • Pass the Amtrak Station and you will see a row of office buildings. • Pull into the parking lot and look for 756 Minnesota Literacy Council.
