Last year Anna Marie's shelter started a Pet Foster-care program so that women needing to escape domestic violence would not hesitate to come to Anna Marie's for safety. They can bring their pets with them. We need a place to house the pets until the Pet Foster-care volunteer(s) can arrange to pick up the pet(s). That's where the Emergency Pet Kennel comes in. We get to remodel an old Garden shed into becoming an Emergency kennel! We've got the plans, the list of materials--but we sure need the expertise of volunteer staff to build it! Carpenters who know what they are doing! This would be a good project for a group of friends, a family or two, or volunteers from a civic organization in the St. Cloud area. Besides the expertise of building and remodeling, laying concrete and putting up a fence--there's the part about donations.

We need the funds to purchase the items for the emergency Pet Kennel. These are all ways people could help provide this safe shelter for pets.

The pets stay in the small kennel until one of our 14 Pet Foster-care families can come to pick up the pet.

Builders/renovators: Master carpenters or close to it! Successful experience in building structures that are at least the size of a 16 x 12 foot shed.
Cement-layers: Ability to gently slope the slab for drainage; know how to set-up and pour a cement slab.
Fence builders: Have the experience and know-how to put up a secure, chain-link fence.
Other: Non-violent lifestyle; ability to get the job done; have own tools and equipment.
