Teach someone English and get a free tour of another country. The Minnesota Literacy Council seeks enthusiastic volunteers to partner with adult immigrants or refugees learning English. Meet people from around the world while teaching English and other skills to help learners survive and succeed in the United States. Volunteers will gain insight into the immigrant experience while making a lasting difference in the life of an adult learner. Teachers and classroom assistants as well as one-to-one and small group tutors are needed.
No previous tutoring or teaching experience is necessary. The only language requirement is the ability to speak, read and write English. Training is provided. The time commitment for this opportunity is 2-3 hours per week for a six month minimum. Morning, afternoon and evening opportunities are available. Age requirement is 18 or 16 with a parent or guardian. This opportunity is sponsored by: Minnesota Literacy Council
