The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control, and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
Description:
The Arthritis Foundation, Michigan Chapter, is the only national, voluntary health agency in Michigan seeking causes, cures, preventions, and treatments for the more than 100 forms of arthritis and related diseases. The chapter provides services statewide from its corporate headquarters in Troy, Michigan and a field office in Grand Rapids, Michigan. By calling Arthritis Answers toll-free at 1-800-968-3030, Michigan residents with arthritis and their families can get the most up-to-date and accurate information about about arthritis and about the programs and services of the foundation. Programs and services include: self-help classes, exercise classes, literature, a physician referral list, educational programs, and a support group list. Information about arthritis and the activities of the Michigan Chapter is also available at www.arthritis.org.
History:
The Michigan Chapter, founded in 1948 at the University of Michigan, was the first Chapter of the National Arthritis Foundation.
