United Way Volunteer Center: Matches people with volunteer opportunities that fit their interests, skills and time availability. Works with hundreds of Dane County non-profit organizations and has information on hundreds of volunteer opportunities for individuals, families, groups, youth and employee teams. In 2003, the Volunteer Center referred 5,882 individuals or groups to local non-profit agencies for volunteer work. Thirty-eight companies are members of our Business Volunteer Network, which focuses on helping companies develop or enhance employee volunteer programs. Morgridge Center for Public Service at the University of Wisconsin - Madison: A clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities for members of the UW-Madison campus (faculty, staff, students, and retirees). Has information on over 300 local, regional, national and international service opportunities. Supports faculty in developing and implementing service-learning and community-based research courses, and develops campus and community partnerships. RSVP of Dane County: Provides personalized placement services for volunteers 55 and older at 200 Dane County non-profit agencies and schools. Has ongoing staff support, accident and liability insurance and mileage reimbursement related to RSVP volunteer work. Offers a variety of opportunities in intergenerational, transportation, community agencies, group projects and more. Over 2,000 RSVP volunteers in Dane County provide 165,000 service hours per year. Madison Area Technical College: Volunteer work at MATC includes the Bloodmobile, tutoring, Santa's Wish List, collecting food and money to fight hunger, and planning community service programs. Each year a Volunteer Fair is held that includes community service organizations from the Madison area to recruit students to their programs. Students can also browse through information and literature about many local service organizations. One-time volunteer opportunities are also available and are posted on bulletin boards around campus and announced in the weekly Student Bulletin. Edgewood College: A vital part of Edgewood's mission is to foster among students an enduring commitment to service in an educational community that seeks truth, compassion, justice, and partnership. Campus Ministry, Student Activities, Career Services, and the Human Issues Studies Program promote and support a myriad of opportunities for students to serve locally, nationally, internationally. One-time or long-term, faith-based or secular service opportunities are available.
