Summer Soccer League for youth aged 5-12
AYSO develops and delivers quality youth soccer programs where everyone builds positive character through participation in a fun, family environment.

Celebrate AYSO's 5 philosophies:

  1. Everyone Plays - At least half of Every Game
  2. Balanced Teams - New teams formed every year
  3. Open Registration - No tryouts, No cuts
  4. Positive Coaching - Building Confidence
  5. Good Sportsmanship - Winning and Losing Gracefully
  6. Description:
Through AYSO, youngsters of varied backgrounds and athletic abilities are given the opportunity to participate in soccer at an affordable price. Our concentration is primarily on fun and learning in a supportive family environment.

There is also a strong emphasis on volunteerism-training and development of parents and community supporters working to improve the AYSO experience, while learning about child development, human behavior and sports psychology. AYSO works because our volunteers work: coaches, referees, publicity, field markers, team parents, secretaries, etc.

AYSO has also introduced and implements its KID ZONE philosophy: written guidelines for parent and spectator behavior that encourages good sportsmanship and fun. Combined with trained volunteers, the entire experience is positive, fun, and educational!

    History:
AYSO was founded in Torrance, California in 1964. They adopted the current mission statement of 5 principles: Everyone Plays, Open Registration, Balanced Teams, Positive Coaching and Good Sportsmanship.

In 1964 AYSO's family included only 9 teams. Today that number has grown to more than 750 regional programs and 40,000 teams! There are currently about 600,000 kids playing AYSO soccer.

Ten years ago, a physical education teacher started the Madison branch of AYSO. About 400 Madison area kids play soccer each summer with AYSO.
